Using Logic Pro Live Music

Live Looping gives Logic users access to cell-based production and live performance possibilities, similar to Ableton Live and Bitwig Studio. Matt Vanacoro shows how easy it is to get started. With the addition of Live Looping, Logic Pro X is continuing its journey to becoming the ‘one stop shop' for composers and producers of all genres. Live Loops allows users to organize loops, samples, and recordings into a new musical grid. From there, tracks can be further refined using all of the professional production features in Logic Pro. Logic has some very nice sounding software synths built in too. If you don't already own it, the price tag of just over $300 from the App Store compared to a much higher $600-900 for Live (depending on the version) makes a great case for trying Logic Pro. If you grew up on Cubase or Pro Tools, Logic will likely make more sense.

Live Loops brings cell-based looping playback and performance to Logic Pro. Launchpad works seamlessly in the Live Loops workflow, to provide tactile playability and colourful grid-based feedback.

With Live Loops and any Launchpad, you can activate cells to experiment with arrangement ideas, and record your performances. Cells can contain one-shots, loops, MIDI patterns and automation data, and can be dragged-and-dropped or recorded live into Logic's tracks area, to build song arrangements quickly.
